The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Pune is one of the premier research centres functioning under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. The institute is committed to promoting authentic research and development in Ayurveda, with a strong emphasis on the authentication and standardization of medicinal plants.
RARI Pune holds accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for its laboratory services related to the authentication of medicinal plants and Pharmacognosy. This accreditation complies with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards, reflecting the institute’s dedication to high-quality laboratory practices, accuracy, and reliability in testing and analysis.
This NABL accreditation enables the institute to maintain stringent quality standards in its research and laboratory work, which plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and efficacy of raw materials used in Ayurvedic medicines. The facility also extends its validated testing services to researchers, industries, and stakeholders, strengthening evidence-based Ayurveda and quality assurance in herbal drug development.

The Institute’s Animal House is duly approved by the CCSEA (Committee for Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals)constituted by the Government of India. The Animal House strictly complies with all prescribed rules, guidelines, and ethical standards for conducting scientific experiments on animals. The Animal House is equipped with all essential facilities related to housing, care, nutrition, health monitoring, and overall welfare of experimental animals. All experiments involving animals are conducted strictly in accordance with CCSEA-approved protocols and only after obtaining approval from the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC). During the period of approval, regular inspections and compliance monitoring of the Animal House are ensured, thereby maintaining animal welfare, transparency, and the quality of scientific research.
